One of the biggest challenges organizations face is how to adapt their communications strategy to the world of emerging media. On October 28 our panel will address:
-How does social media affect internal communications?
-Which department "owns" social media?
-Who can participate in social media?
-What are the legalities of creating a social media policy?
-How are social media crises handled?

Our panel is about the “new PR,” but the reality is that this panel should have been held years ago. There were those in our industry who got it right away, the Steve Rubels of the world. And then there were those who held onto the traditional way of doing PR, those who refused to… Continue

Time was, public relations was all about issuing press releases that upper-management deemed newsworthy. Mix in some canned marketing-speak about the company and some dressed-up quotes and you had the makings of a high quality PR campaign. Add your five paragraph, bold headlined, AP style "news" to a wire service feed and watch it spread out to thousands of journalists at once with a single mouse click. Sound familiar?
Today PR involves much more than a snappy intro and a firm handshake. While… Continue

Last Thursday's Denver Twestival was a huge success! The 150+ folks in attendance, along with online donations, raised over $4,000. $4K is a crucial benchmark- it's enough money to buy and install a water well for a town. In addition to a lot of beer, silent auction shopping and tweeting, Tsegaye Hailu, a former UN official, gave a great talk on the water crisis and its impact on his native country, Ethiopia.
Congrats to Chuck Blakeman and crew for pulling off one of the 200+ events worldwide!… Continue
